The statue of Stanislas Leszczynski.King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine, is in the square. The square took 3 and half years to build. Inaugurated in 1755. NANCY FRANCE. I stayed overnight, at this Ibis Hotel in Nancy.

---- All i knew about Nancy before i my visited was something in my memory from school about a wartime battle. So i"ve looked it up, and the Battle of Nancy was in Sept 1944 and lasted 10 days, in WW2. The battle was between United States forces and German Nazi forces to liberate Nancy. ------------- Nancy train station is about 400m walk from Place Stanislas -- A train from Paris Gare de Est takes one hour and 42 minutes. ----- Nancy is a really elegant city.

Lovely city. We've never visited but you said it's under 2 hours from Paris so it might be a great day trip for us on a future trip to Paris. Grand Est is my least favorite region in France so don't think I'd like a month there but a GREAT day trip from Paris. Stanislaus Square is spectacular.

We like the Ibis in the center of town too. That's where we stayed in Strasbourg. It's close to the train station and close to everything we wanted to visit. Always clean and comfortable too.

Thank you for the blog entry. Lovely photos.
